I watch a lot of TV

fox news made a video about the Christians being prosecuted in Syria and Iraq and I’m upset because instead of them bringing attention to the fact that innocent people are being prosecuted for their religion they just furthered their Islamophobia.

Mod note:

Feel free to erase this bit here if you reblog, but I just wanted to explain why I made this. Very recently I got into an argument online with a white woman about a film that executed a white savior trope. I explained all the things I found problematic in the film and why I thought it was racist, and she told me that I was both nit-picking and white-shaming. I was also called a hypocrite and a racist (against white people).

I could see that this white woman was set in her willful ignorance, and that any further arguing would only make me more frustrated and her more self-righteous. So instead, I made this (lovely, if I can so myself) powerpoint rather than metaphorically bashing my head against a brick wall in continuing a conversation with her.

May this help you in all your efforts, even if it couldn’t help me in mine.

- Jennifer

P.S. So I don’t know if someone has made a powerpoint for racism before (I’m sure someone has), but I haven’t seen one. Please link it to us if you have!

calling a man a “pig” is literally dehumanising how do some people not think there’s anything wrong with that how

Because chicks, fillies, birds and bitches never get dehumanised. Those vixens always get away with this kind of shit. Especially the heifers, they’re the worst. What cows.

Suzanne is so important

It really frustrated me as a child that none if the “professional s” i was forced to work with had any experiance with living with Mental Illness.

Like, i was being ‘treated’ by NT people who were only invested in teaching me how to hide my symptoms and appear ‘normal’ from the outside (and they call this coping), instead of how to function WITH IT. There was only pity on offer, when validation and commiseration would have been way more helpful for me.

SUZANNE IS SO IMPORTANT TO ME BECAUSE SHE’S V TRANSPARENT ABOUT HER COPING STRATEGIES

Important things from Igbohistory Instagram. European colonialism has, and still continues to dismantle the myriad of sophisticated social constructs upheld by so many African ethnicities, by presenting Africa as a unit by choosing to ignore the huge ocean of differences between ethnic groups, let alone countries.

Did Igbohistory quote the person who actually wrote this? As I read this, I had the feeling that I’d read the exact words before and not from Igbohistory. In fact I believe that I shared a link to the original essay on my tumblr years ago but I can’t find it now, I will sha…

I was taught this in my African History class, and since then i stopped referring to my people (Yoruba) and other ethic groups of Africa and the world as tribes. This large groups of people are nations with strong rich history and deserve to be respected as such.

i do hope that igbohistory doesn’t claim that this is their own work, and they simply forgot to cite where the information comes from.

I updated! I made a mistake pls, it was very similar to another essay I’d read but not the same.

I BEEN saying this, YES.

'Tribe' is a white anthropological word meant to diminish.

Nicki Minaj shining a light on the differences on acceptable sexuality from white women and black women.

While it has a good deal to do with color, it also has to do with the fact of how her sexuality is used.

The women above her could arguably be said to be catering to the sexual needs/wants/fantasies of men (Sports Illustrated is ESPECIALLY known for catering to a male gaze.)  While Nicki Minaj has continuously used her sexuality to empower herself.  Her sexuality isn’t for men, it’s for her own self.  And THAT is a huge problem.  Sexuality that isn’t designed for male consumption is deemed unacceptable and threatening.  She is powerful, demanding, uncompromising, and men are weak, so that scares them.

And it’s also because she’s of Indian/Black background, no doubt about it.  It’s not just racist, it’s also sexist.
